Meet Pete. Pete is family and a very dear friend. You would have to spend time with Pete and I to really appreciate how different our personalities are, but how well we also feed off of each other and have a great time together. We also share a love of Virginia wine, so where better to meet and do head shots, but Mediterranean Vineyards. There you would find Pete appreciating the "brightness" and all of the fancy things about wine, while I just think it's yum and think that some of them may perhaps smell like a Christmas tree.

Recently he was asked for a head shot to put with a story that he's written and he discovered that he didn't have anything that seemed "author worthy". Okay, those were my words, not his ;).

Thanks Pete, as always, for the good times over a few glasses of my favorite wine! If you've not been to Mediterranean Vineyards in Warrenton Virginia, it's a must. Gorgeous views, wonderful family owned Vineyard and some of my favorite wine.

Yep, they're fun peeps! I've had the pleasure of knowing this family for quite a while and grew up with the only male in their house...... oh wait, I think the dogs might be male, but at any rate I've known him a long time! We went to grade school together and spent a lot of time hanging out in high school. He was truly like a brother to me. What I SHOULD do is share pictures from when we were growing up - THAT would be entertaining!

His gorgeous wife and girls are such a blast to hang out with too. We've been able to do some camping together and love every minute of it! So in the spirit of catching up with old pictures and spotlighting a FB fan........ here ya' go!

New and Improved

So I debated.

I thought, maybe I'll just slip back into the blog.. YEARS later and just pretend like I was never gone. I knew you were all too smart for that, so here I am announcing the new and improved blog. I debated getting rid of all of the old posts and start new, but decided that I really like some of the old stuff so I left it as is.

You see, I really didn't like the fact that the pictures on blogger were so tiny, so the posts were just sort of blah for me. I thought maybe I'd go with a different blog company, but really wanted to make this work. As you see, I've found a way to make the images large on blogger and I'm beyond happy! I'm also working on a fun new blog header too. So for now, I'll stick with blogger.

Ahhhhhh. High School, senior year. That feeling of having the world at your fingertips... starting fresh.

I had the pleasure of photographing this talented young man that we attend church with. To say he loves music is probably an understatement so it only made sense that his Senior Portraits be musically related. The location and weather were awesome and we had a great time. Good luck with all that you do in life TJ! I'd say with your talent, you have much to offer this world!

In this business, I'm truly blessed. Blessed with many unique opportunities, blessed to meet some awesome folks and adorable kids. I so love what I do. So, I get a phone call a few weeks back "Hi Tammy, I love your work and wondered if you could photograph my wedding ..... in a week? (insert giggle here)". I couldn't resist her charm and sweet spirit and it just so happened that morning was actually available. It just seemed like fate.

This couple has such a great story. They met many years ago through their little girls, and now many years later have found one another again and are now married. I, and the gentleman who married them, were honored to be the only guests at the wedding. They are such an adorable couple, so in love and so very much fun. Thank you guys so much for choosing me to attend and photograph your special day. I feel truly blessed to have been a part of it AND fortunate that the cow didn't actually GET us ;).

A great opportunity to spend some family time at a beautiful park and have some portraits taken of your children or family. We only have two dates available at this time, but hopefully more will be added throughout the summer.

I just realized that I never shared some really fun sessions with you guys from last fall. Our lives turned into chaos right after a busy fall season so I never got to share. I'll gradually start to share before starting into Spring Stuff.

This is an event that I photographed at The Marriott Ranch for a local wedding reception after a destination wedding. Such a stunning place. You really should visit it, if you haven't.

Just wanted to share a few that I took of a wedding that I did for our niece. I'll consider doing weddings for second marriages or possibly for someone who wouldn't be able to have a photographer otherwise, but it's just not my thing =)

Come on, admit it! You're singing the song, aren't you? You'll be singing it all day. You can thank me later ;).

This is just a little "get to know me" session. Just thought I'd share a "few" of the things or products that I love.

1) Magic Erasers! If you HAVEN'T tried these - run, don't walk, to the store immediately. One of my BF's wen't on and on about how great these were and I thought for sure she had lost her mind or owned stock in the company. Well now I TOTALLY get it. Love these things!

2) Clean! I love the scent of clean. Not the "it smells like someone stuffed a dryer sheet up my nose clean" but nice subtle clean. My FAVORITE thing in the realm of clean is "clean sheets". Truly if I were rich I'd pay someone to wash my sheets every day so I could have that new sheet feeling every night. Ahhhhhhh!

3) Photography. I know, duh! But other than just portraits I also love taking landscapes and flowers and little details of life that we sometimes overlook. It just helps me to really look at the world instead of blowing by with blinders on. Today, I challenge you to pick up your camera and head out to see what interesting little thing that you can find to photograph.

4) The Outer Banks. Judging by the millions of OBX stickers on vehicles I'll assume that most of you know what I'm talking about. There are still parts of the OBX that are just the way they were when I was a little girl. The weathered grey houses on stilts and the cool little shops on beach road. I just love that place!
I'm there "almost" every summer so if you're ever interested in a beach session, please give me a call and we'll see if we can work something out.

5) Camping!! Most of you know that we spend a lot of time camping in the summer. Not "roughing it", but in a 5th wheel camper =). Camping to me means driving all the luxuries of home and parking it in nature - ha. No, but I love the people that you meet camping, hanging out by the campfire with friends and enjoying the time as a family. If any of you camp, let me know and maybe we can hook up for a trip! =). Here's a shot from a train trip that we took on the rainy camping trip to Gettysburg a few weeks ago. We DID have about a minute of sunshine long enough for me to take this picture.

6) TV reality - Okay, I admit it, I'm addicted. I think I need an intervention. I don't watch much TV, but never miss an opportunity to watch American Idol. Soooo..... who do you think is going to win? Little David or Sultry David? I'm going with Cook because he's been my fav from the beginning!

When I knew that he had to do a Moriah Carey song, I was all "Oh for the love of Tivo" how on EARTH is he going to pull this one off?? Well he did and with flying colors!!!

That's right. I celebrated a birthday this past weekend. I am now 28.....errr, I mean 38. A girl can dream, right? It was a wonderful weekend with one of my best friends planning the perfect girls day on Saturday and spending the day Sunday with family. On Saturday we vistited a few local wineries and Vintage Ridge, a new Vineyard in Rectortown Virginia, was probably the biggest hit of the day. They were so sweet to us and the wine there is very yummy. My favorite part was the overall atmosphere. In the tasting room there are tables and the wall opens up to a stunning view of the Virginia countryside. My very best girlfriends. I see so many wonderful phases of my life sitting here - from a new friend from church to one of my BF since the 5th grade (who planned this awesome day), another BF since birth, my two sister in laws and a very dear friend of about 12 years. It was a wonderfully relaxing day with my girls.

Any excuse to wear a pink boa tiarra, right? I know it may come as shock to many of you that I didn't have that laying around the house. It was a gift along with the super cool birthday wine glass (seen to the right of me).

You've got some "splainin'" to do. Okay, as always, I'll admit that I'm the worst blogger ever. Yes, ever. From Thanksgiving to mid January were very hectic with the tree falling on our house, out of town visitors and my husband's shoulder surgery. That then wen't into getting geared up for a busy Spring with outdoor sessions, as well as being in charge of my church's VBS for this year. So, I'm sorry that I've neglected my blog and I realize that I've got a lot of catching up to do =).

Are these not the brightest blue eyes ever? We intended on doing a newborn shoot with Rhys but these ended up being more of a 3ish month shoot. He was such a trooper and really seemed to be taking it all in. What a sweet boy and such a great family. Thanks guys and I look forward to seeing you guys again.

This was such a fun newborn shoot because he was so bright eyed and bushy tailed in the beginning =). All of the hard work though eventually wore him out and we got some sweet sleeping shots as well. Thanks guys. I had a great time hanging with you all for the morning. We've always called his older brother "Baby Will", but I guess his title has now changed to "Big brother Will".

A day in your life..

I love everything about these types of sessions. I love how they steal a little moment of every day life to preserve that precious time in your families life to look at and cherish always. It's still much like any other indoor session. I will do some family shots (if that's what you're looking for) and a few shots of your child/children posed. The biggest focus though (as with most of my photography honestly) is unposed shots. I like to follow your family around - getting up in the morning and having breakfast nad bath time, just hanging out in the middle of the day, or bundling up and going for a walk. The choice is yours. You'll have me for two hours, but opportunites for longer sessons are also available. Custom designed bound books will be available for these types of sessions as well.

For the months of February and March you can have one of these sessions for a sitting fee of $100.00!!

I wen't from Christmas rush, to a tree falling on the house, to my husband having shoulder surgery, to Christmas, to family members coming to visit the day after Christmas. So, do you forgive me for not catching up during the holidays? ;)

I've honestly just caught my breath from all of that and the repairs have finally been finished on the house so now I'm ready to fully get into the swing of things here in 2008!

Here's a shot that I took of my little man at Christmas. This was supposed to be our Christmas card, but cards never made it out this year. There's no way that I could show you everything, but I'll try to catch up with some of my favorites from Christmas portrait sessions soon.

Yes. That would indeed be a tree laying on the power line and on our house. It happened at 4am and shook the house so badly that we just knew that it had come through the house. To make matters worse, it was on D's side of the house so needless to say, we broke our necks to get over there. Thankfully the tree penetrated the exterior of the house, but didn't actually come through - what a blessing and what a crazy experience.

Oh this little guy was so much fun. He was born three months premature and really hasn't been able to go out very much, so this was his first time experiencing grass. It was so cute to see his reaction when those little feet touched the grass. What a joy it was to spend time with him and his mom.

What would you give to be able to freeze these moments, these expressions to be able to look back on them in years to come and remember? I was once in a store and D was being a total handful. An older lady approached me and could tell that I was flustered. She said, in the sweetest voice, "Honey what I wouldn't give to have my little boys back on their very worst day". That totally stopped me in my tracks. I'm sure she's right and I've reminded myself of that on those very frustrating days. That was such a gift she gave me that day. I hope to remember every smile, every pout, every expression and am so greatful that I've captured him throughout his life. I can't imagine that I'll forget, but what if I do? Those pictures will be priceless to me and even to look back on those baby pictures, they are already.

I am so amazed at how beautiful the leaves have gotten just in the last few days. I've been so excited waiting for autumn this year and so glad that it's finally here. Family ties

I met up with two sisters and their families the day before one of them moved to Alaska for a few years. It was so neat to see the relationship between these kids and to be able to capture it before they moved away. They were such a wonderful family to work with, we really had a great time. It's usually hard to get a good shot of a big group of kids but they all did such a great job. Thanks guys. Looking forward to seeing you all again sometime.

I always love to photograph her. I've had the pleasure of knowing this young lady her whole life and to be best friends with her mother my whole life. I can truly say that she is just as beautiful on the inside as she is on the out. Love you Con!

I remember when Conner was little and toddling around. It seems like yesterday. Please don't forget to capture your little ones as much as possible. When your memory of the detais fade and they're all grown up you'll wish you had images of them just as they were. To me, that's more important than the next trip to Target or those new pair of shoes. These little ones are our life. Your family is what matters in the end.

I am reading THE BEST book! It's called "Lord help me change my attitude (before it's too late)".

I am sooo loving this book. It has really helped me view things differently. Just thought I'd pass this along in case there are others that need this book as much as I do. ;)

Here's a section of the book that really struck a chord with me tonight -
"A farmer stood by the road one day and observed a large wagon filled with household goods moving toward him. Dust flew as the wagon pulled to a stop and the driver shouted, "We're moving from Brownsville to Jonestown. How much farther is it?"

Ironic, given that's something you'll never hear me say while taking your portraits ;). This is a fun lunch idea that I put in my sons lunch box on occasion. It's just two apple slices with peanut butter and mini marshmallows. He loves it!! =)

Okay, this weekend was pretty much full as soon as I sent out the newsletter - lol. So, here's what I'm going to do for those of you who weren't able to get on this weekends schedule. I have a whole bunch of people that want to do the mini sessions so I'm going to squeeze in some more for next Sunday. Right now here's what I have for Sunday 10/21. If next Sunday doesn't work please let me know if you're still interested and I'll add you to be one of the first contacted if I open another mini session day at the park. Also please let me know if you'd be interested in a weekday appointment as those are easier to come by.

This Sunday - Mini Sessions at Sky Meadows State Park

This Sunday we will be having an afternoon of mini sessions at Sky Meadows State Park in Deleplane Virginia. We currently have two spots available. These sessions will be 30 minutes in length and the sitting fee for this will be $60.00. It's also a beautiful drive and a gorgeous park to spend some time with your family. Bring a picnic to enjoy when your session is complete =).

Here are a few images from some mini sessions that I did at Sky Meadows last fall. Browse through my website to see many other images from this beautiful park. These spots will go quickly so please call if you're interested or if you want to be on a waiting list if we should do another. I tend to do these last minute mini sessions when I have a cancelation or sudden opening in my schedule. Please let me know if you'd like to be contacted for future openings if this Sunday doesn't work for your schedule. I also find that weekdays are not as popular, but if you'd like to come to a mini session on a weekday, please let me know that as well. If I get a large enough group, I'd be happy to do a weekday mini session.

From the sounds of it, today was our last warm day. We've been trying to say goodbye to summer for a while, but it doesn't seem to want to give in to fall. We had such an awesome summer full of camping and more camping, swimming and just having some nice D and mommy time. I'm ready now to really enjoy a good campfire, to bundle up in sweaters, to put pumkin spice creamer in my coffe and sit back and enjoy the leaves. So goodbye summer, thanks so much for a great time and welcome fall!

Here's the littlest of my two Valentines =). My little guy is a bundle of words, and words, and smiles, and songs, and love, and words (did I say that already?) ;). He can be quite a handful, but he is truly the light of my life. I just adore him and being able to wake up to that smiling face every day just melts my heart!

Well, as you'll see by a few of the sessions below, I really have been working just not blogging =). I, for the most part, took December off. It was a nice and well needed break. I'm excited though to be back and in the swing of things. Want to know what's been filling a lot of my time? One little two legged fireball and now two four legged fireballs =). Man, puppies are so much work, but as you can see, our little man is quite fond of them! =)

Oh I'm going to miss this little guy!!! Lucky for me his mom wants family pictures in the Spring =). I get so attached to my baby planners and when I haven't seen them for a few months it always surprises me how much they've changed. I was shocked at how much this little guy was toddling around for his one year portraits. It was such a pleasure and an honor being able to help capture the first year of this little mans life!!

This year they planned the party so that I could be there because two members of their wonderful close knit group are moving a few states away. It was great to be a part of their goodbye get together. What a great group of folks who all care about each other very much.

A day in the life . . . .

January through March I will be offering mini "day in the life sessions". They are designed to simply capture a normal day in your life. What a wonderful thing to have when the little ones are grown and gone. A little story - a few weeks ago we were in the OBX and my son was being a terror in the bali outlet (well the fact that he was four and in the bali outlet might have been our first problem ;). As I was getting frustrated that I was trying to shop and my son was busy hiding himself in bras so that his friend couldnt find him, an older lady walked up. She looked at me with the sweetest face and said "Honey, what I wouldn't give to have my boys back home on their very worst day". I write this with misty eyes because it was truly an eye opener for me. So, that made me think, more than ever, that these sessions would be something that people would love. Mini Session at Sky Meadows State Park

I photographed this family last year at a Home party, but it's amazing how many wonderful people cross my path at HPP's and I never really get to know them because I have such a short time to work face to face with them. This family however stood out to me. Genuinely warm happy people. You just feel instantly comfortable around them. Well, she called me this fall and wanted an apt. but there was a pretty extensive waiting list ahead of her. I sent out a last minute call for a few mini sessions at the park and she quickly responded. God works in mysterious ways because having the opportunity to get to know her has been nothing short of a blessing. We have so much in common and have become instant friends. Photographing her boys was such a pleasure. It was so neat to watch the bond between these boys. It is obvious that they are carrying on that wonderful peace and warmth that their parents have. It was also so wonderful watching Andrea's dad with his grandsons. Wow! Does that grandpa love those boys and it was great to capture that relationship too when he wasn't looking ;). Thanks again Andrea! I look forward to years of capturing that great family of yours.

Okay, there's no way that I can touch on every family that I've photographed at Home Parties in the last month or so. Therefore, I'll just share with you a few of my recent favorites! Home Party images are very different for me in that I often use a backdrop (which I don't do much in private sessions anymore) and that I only have 15 minutes for the mini session. It's hard to bring out true warmth, relationships and fun in people in that short amount of time, but amazingly it still manages to happen!

Where it all began.....

I so love doing couples shoots! Engagements are always fun because it's new love. That completely lost in each other, nothing else in the world matters kind of love. It's exciting. It's fun constantly learning new things about one another. It's a head to toe tingley kind of love.

My favorite though is mature love. Love that has endured through hard times. Love that transforms the instant you see the miracle of that wonderful bundle of joy that God has lent to you. Love that has been constant through thousands of diapers and nights of no sleep. Love that fights through infertility and the loss of people that we love. Love that has watched as their children marry and move out and as their grandchildren come to visit.

It took me many years to understand that it's okay if we don't feel like we're head over heels in love with our partner every single day. Marriage is about a commitment. It's about paying bills and dealing with issues, and getting up again tomorrow and doing it all over again. It's about not giving up and doing everything in your power to make it work. It's about respecting one another's feelings and overlooking their quirks. It's about a strong love that has lasted through many years. We all still have those new love kind of days where it's tingley again. It's the days though that I can look at my husband and know without a shadow of a doubt that we're in this for the long haul. That we can get each other through anything that comes our way. For me, it's all about that feeling of looking at someone and knowing that wherever you are, as long as you have them.........you're home.

Here's a few pictures from a recent couples session. We had a nice evening and had the park all to ourselves. Thank you Shannon and Dee Dee, for helping me take a step back in this crazy holiday portrait season to think about the important things in life. I get so many wonderful emails from customers about how thankful they are to have these images to always help them to remember. What they don't realize is, dealing with each and every one of them with their own unique personalities and perspectives helps me to grow as a person each day and "I" am so thankful for that.

I never take the time to share personal pictures on this blog. I guess it's only fair that I turn the camera back around on my life every so often ;). This little four year old blondie is mine. I love this little boy more than life itself. He inspires me every day. He helps me to view life like a child instead of the "adult with blinders" that I typically am. If it weren't for him and what he's taught me the last four years, I'm not sure that my work would have the same feeling. I feel so blessed that God has loaned with this little guy and I so enjoy every minute that I have with him. Now if I could only get a decent shot of him, that would be accomplishing something! ;). The other little sweetheart in these images is my nephew. Don't you just want to kiss those little cheeks for days? He is such a sweetheart and he is such a lucky little guy to have such wonderful parents. Here's a few shots of our day at the pumpkin patch.

"Just be yourself". Perhaps I should have said something different ;). This is the result of having a camera shoved in your face for four years straight - ha!

The love of a family

I have known Chrystie for quite a few years now. She wen't to C0llege with my brothers and I've always loved her fun personality. It was so nice to see her find the love of her life. Someone who has just the same wonderful personality and a perfect fit for Chrystie. It's been so nice to see Chrystie's transition into a wife and mom. It's crystal clear how much she loves her boys. I don't think that anyone can ever prepare you for motherhood. They tell you about all of the "technical" aspects, but they can never prepare you for what this motherhood thing is going to do to your heart. The quote "Making the decision to have a child is to choose to have your heart go walking around outside your body forever" is soooo true! It's the most wonderful, yet the most vulnerable feeling on the planet. Aiden is such a sweet boy and I had so much fun with you guys. Thanks so much for allowing me to capture this little moment in your lives as a young family. I hope these images are something that you will always cherish.

It was so neat to capture Aiden practicing his first steps to daddy. I love that concentrated look that they get when trying so hard and also so excited that they're really walking all by themselves.

What Do You Do All Day?

A man came home from work and found his three children outside, still in their pajamas, playing in the mud, with empty food boxes and wrappers strewn all around the front yard. The door of his wife's car was open, as was the front door to the house and there was no sign of the dog.

Proceeding into the entry, he found an even bigger mess. A lamp had been knocked over, and the throw rug was wadded against one wall. In the front room the TV was loudly blaring a cartoon channel, and the family room was strewn with toys and various items of clothing.

In the kitchen, dishes filled the sink, breakfast food was spilled on the counter, the fridge door was open wide, dog food was spilled on the floor, a broken glass lay under the table, and a small pile of sand was spread by the back door.

He quickly headed up the stairs, stepping over toys and more piles of clothes, looking for his wife. He was worried she might be ill, or that something serious had happened. He was met with a small trickle of water as it made its way out the bathroom door. As he peered inside he found wet towels, scummy soap and more toys strewn over the floor. Miles of toilet paper lay in a heap and toothpaste had been smeared over the mirror and walls.

As he rushed to the bedroom, he found his wife still curled up in the bed in her pajamas, reading a novel. She looked up at him, smiled, and asked how his day went. He looked at her bewildered and asked, "What happened here today?"She again smiled and answered, "You know every day when you come home from work and you ask me what in the world I do all day?" "Yes," was his incredulous reply. She answered, "Well,today I didn't do it."

Little Zachary

How cute is this picture? I just love it! Zachary and his family were so much fun to work with, and are such a happy loving family. Zachary is so incredibly expressive. So many slogans and catch phrases wen't through my mind while looking through his pictures. He is such a cutie pie! I hope to have the rest of your pictures finished some time this weekend Katie. Here's a few that jumped out as my favorites in the mean time =). It was a blast working with you guys!

This picture technically isn't great because the light was a bit harsh, but how can I not share this picture? The look on his face is priceless. That's a definate "Don't even think about it" face.

The Marriott Ranch

If you've not visited this wonderful place, you must. It is the perfect getaway. The views are breathtaking and what a wonderful place to relax and get back to the important things in life. Whether it be for the weekend, a week or for an event that they're hosting you won't regret it. They also have some wonderful horseback trails (with picnic lunch provided) planned for a few dates in October. http://www.marriottranch.com/welcome.html

So here, I've planned it - You'll come spend a nice romantic fall weekend at the Ranch. You'll go by horseback through the gorgeous fall foliage (ahhh I can almost hear the leaves rustling now). Then you'll go to some of the gorgeous vineyards that are close the Ranch or go on a canoe trip down the Shenandoah river. The next day you can visit some of the local orchard's to get some of the delicious local apples this season (They're yummy this year!).

So there you are - all within 45 minutes of the beltway. For those in the Virginia Piedmont it's right in your back yard in Hume Virginia. I was honored to come capture the beauty of this place and take pictures during one of their events. You don't know what you're missing!

Okay Kim, I know that I say this every time, but I think these may be my favorites =). This little guy and his family have spent alot of time with me over the last 7 months or so. Charles is a natural when it comes to having his portraits taken. He's always so cooperative and it's so easy to make him smile. It's also a lot of fun to watch him explore new things because you can almost hear the wheel's turning in his head. He cracked me up when we put him in the grass. He really wanted to crawl away but was afraid to put his arms in the grass to do it. As always, I had a great time with you guys. Can you believe his next session will be for his first birthday?? I just wanted to give you a little teaser of some of the favorites of mine that I've come across so far.

What a great time we had!!! Well, I did anyway, she may have been slightly
abused =). I've known Cierra since she was a little girl so I made her be more
brave than I'd force some to be. She was such a tropper though and the results
are phenomenal!!! I'm still looking through her pictures, but here's a few of my

So we go through life worried about the little ones, watching every step they take - "don't go in the road, don't touch that hot stove". In the mean time, these big strong men of ours get overlooked at times. Of course we do need to watch over and take care of these little guys, but I often have to remind myself to make sure all of the big guys needs are met also.

Anything can happen in life. In just a second our lives can come tumbling down around us. So savor every single second and make sure that the ones that we love know how much we love them. God has loaned us these little ones and has gifted us with these irreplaceable men in our lives. He's hand picked these guys for us no matter how mismatched we seem to be =).

If you've not heard this wonderful song, you just have to!! It's all about perspective. A guy that I went to school with (from the time I was little) was killed in a freak bobcat accident this week. I can't even imagine what his family is going through right now. This song has been on my mind a lot this week and it just makes you stop and think about how fragile and how precious this life is. I just can't believe that another baby planner has turned a year old. Where did the time go? Where did my babies go? Okay, maybe not MINE, but I sure do develope a great relationship with these little ones (and parents), so seeing these guys turn one is bittersweet. I know that I'll see them all again, it's just so surprising to see them grow up so quickly!

This little woman is so spunky! She has her own agenda and is a take charge kinda' kid. I just love her! She has so much spirit and it's been neat to see her turn into a little toddler. Her mom and I used to work together (for those that don't know I was a Kitchen Designer in my former life ;). So Anita, here's your sneak peek. I know that curiosity has been killing you! Well, my sister this is the book for you! I've actually read this book, which is quite surprising since I have NO time and I'm as ADD as the day is long =). It's a quick read and it just gives you such a sense of peace. Check it out!

It's sad that as women and mom's that we need to have someone else justify for us that it's okay to rest. Quite frankly to be a good mom, wife, human, we really NEED rest and we need time to ourselves. I know what you're thinking, it's impossible, right? Well even if you get a chance after the kids are in bed for a bubble bath, lay back and light a candle or read a good book. It might not be a lot of time but every little bit helps.

Looking for a cool munchie to serve at your next cookout? This stuff is so yummy! We can all thank my SIL's mom for this one.

Velveeta Southwestern Corn Dip
1 lb (16 ox) Velveeta cut up
1 can (11 ox) corn with red and green peppers
drained
3 jalepeno peppers (seeded and minced)
1 med red onion finely chopped
1/2 cup fresh cilantro finely chopped
1/2 cup Breakstones sour cream

Mix velveeta and corn in large microwavable bowl. Microwave on high for five minutes or until the velveeta is completely melted. Stir after three minutes. Stir in remaining ingredients. Serve hot with wheat things, triscuits or veggies.

Another baby planner that I've so enjoyed capturing this past year. I think this little girl has had a smile on her face since the day I met her. She has such a sweet spirit about her and can truly light up a room when she's in it. I had a terrible time picking a favorite so I just grabbed a few. It's hard not to capture her smiling. ((sniff sniff)) Finishing up these baby planners always makes me sad. It's so neat to watch these babies grow up and while creating their slideshow for their last session I always get nostalgic. It's so flattering to be chosen to preserve the milestones of these sweet little ones. Kadyn was not happy about having her portrait taken this day, but mad or not she is just so stinkin' cute!! Don't you just want to pick her up and squeeze her? I've become very close to this family over the last year and it's been a pleasure every step of the way!!!

Sky Meadow's State Park

What a fun day this was! I know that they had a great day together and I truly enjoyed watching them and capturing the moments between this wonderful family. This is one of my most favorites places to shoot (as most of you know). For those of you that don't know, if I mention Sky Meadow's State Park, this is it.
I've got to tell you as I proofed these pictures I got teary eyed many times while working on pictures of this couple. They were so comfortable with each other and so in love after all of these years. I've got to say that they are truly inspiring to watch. Not just their obvious love for one another but also their love for their daughters and grandchildren as well. Happy Anniversary guys!
Well, you can tell by looking at these images how close these families are and how much fun they are.

For those that don't know, I always "try" my hardest to remember to pull the couples aside - out of the family pictures and away from the children and capture their relationship for a minute. Most of the time people are pretty hesitant but they always seem glad in the end that they took a minute to capture what started it all in the first place. That's so important to me to capture. It's so easy with children to place that aside (especially when typically all that most parents are concerned with is making sure the kids are doing what they're supposed to be doing=).

Okay there were so many that I loved, but these just happen to be some of my favs. What a neat family this is. Kim is so sweet and always makes it a point to let me know how much she appreciates the portraits that I do for her. You may recognize this little guy middle front. Six months and looking me dead in the eye no matter what's going on around him - that's my boy! =) I just love the way Charles has his toes curled up in this image. He's definately not sure about the grass touching his feet.

I love this picture because this is soooo how Charles was feeling at this point. It had been an hour - hour and a half and he had just about had enough. They were all such troopers!

I love love love this image! It just makes me smile every time I see it. Is it wrong to hang pictures of other people's children in my home ;). I mean really, do you blame them? Who could possibly resist kissing those cheeks?

I don't post many HPP images on my site or even on my blog. Why you ask? Well, these parties have taken on a life of their own. It's really two entirely different styles for me. The parties tend to be a little more posed, given that we have 15 minutes for each shoot. With private sessions we have more time to get to know each child and bring out even more of their true personality. They both serve their own unique purposes. These two were my favorites from her party.

What a beautiful morning we had for this shoot and it just so happened to be the day of this little guys birthday. We got to the park early in the morning before anyone else arrived. The park was a little brighter than we had anticipated but we managed to work around it just fine. With two subjects as cute as these, how could we not?

Little Mr. Will

What an amazing little man he is! The evening that we took his newborn pictures he ended up in the hospital with trouble breathing. That lead to having a trach for many months. Will is now trach free and doing just great. We wanted to do these pictures before the trach was removed to document this time in his life. He has such a neat personality. He's so much like his daddy in the way that he just sits back and takes everything in. You can also see his mommy in that bright smile of his. We love you Will and are so glad that your doing well!

Well, the only way to start this blog is to introduce the two loves of my life. How I love my boys! Do I have 200% boy in my house. Yep! Do they drive me batty with the wrestling and craziness some days? Yep! Is it all worth it? ABSOLUTELY! I wouldn't have it any other way. I'm so very blessed to have these two special guys in my life. My little man is so friendly, has so much spirit and curiosity and how could you not love a guy in caterpillar boots? I could go on all day about him. The big man is a very busy guy with his own Landscape Construction business, but still makes times for us. He has the biggest heart and I just love this handsome man to pieces. I spend a lot of time on the computer and am so thankful to have such great patient guys!
